Important Events Coming Up...

Monday, November 7th- Deadline to place a team swim suit and t-shirt order. If Coach Katie does not receive your order, you are on your own to order a team suit and no shirt will be available. Suits will be roughly $60 and shirts roughly $20.

Friday, November 11th- Annual Swim and Dive A Long. 7pm start and ends at 7am on Saturday the 12th. Please talk to coaches or team members for more details.

Monday, November 14th- First day of mandatory practice. 3:15-5:15. Make sure to bring clothing for dryland on Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays.

Wednesday, November 16th- Parents Meeting in the auditorium, 5:30-6:30.

***For the month of November, practices on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays will be 3:15-4:45 in the water followed by dryland until 5:30. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO HAVE DRYLAND CLOTHING (ESPECIALLY ATHLETIC SHOES) ON THESE DAYS.

Team Banquet, Monday, Feb. 29th

Swimmers, Divers and Parents,
The Team banquet will be Monday, February 29th at 6pm in the CHS cafeteria. it is a potluck so please be sure to bring a dish that can feed 6-8 people. Please feel free to contact Coach Katie with any questions. A big thanks to Claudine Fair who is organizing. We look forward to seeing everyone on the 29th and celebrating the girls amazing season!

Timers for League Meet

Parents, family, friends, looking for 2 timers to man Lane 2 for Friday (4-8ish) and Saturday (2-6ish) at all times. Each school is required to provide 2 timers. Please let me know if you are interested. Thank you!

JV Swim & Dive Meet

Congratulations to the 6 swimmers and 1 diver who ended their season this past Saturday at the JV Meet at Rampart HS. Top-15 performances included:

Lauren Reynolds 6th in the 50 free with a 28.73
Bailey Jones 13th in the 50 free with a 29.76
Isabel Perkins 2nd in Diving
200 Free Relay 7th with a 2:08.09 (Bates, Jones, Perry, Reynolds)
400 Free Relay 10th with a 5:21.78 (Bates, Jones, Banfield, Rose)

Last year was my 40th year coaching at Coronado H.S. My wife, Mary, and Debbie Glynn surprised me by nominating me for the “Best of the Springs 2015” with the Gazette. A few days before the deadline Mary and Debbie sent out emails to encourage former swimmers and families to vote. I ended up silver in Coach, High School category. I was amazed to be second. (http://www.thebestofthesprings.com/section/sports-recreation/) So, because of last year results my name is on the 2016 ballot.  Unlike last year, you do not need to type in my name.

Then, register to vote.  (You MUST register your email)

After you register, you sign in.

I am still coaching and I’m planning on doing this for another 40 years (maybe not). In addition to coaching the boys I have been the assistant coach for the girls team the past 6 years and still enjoy the challenges.

Thursday, Jan. 14th Pasta Dinner

Pasta Dinner at Carsen Fair's House- 5230 Vessey Rd (20 min from CHS). No need to bring any food but please bring a red $5-$10 gift for a gift exchange to celebrate the Chinese New Year.

Volunteer Opportunity at The Olympic Training Center

Hello Everyone!

In memory of Jimi Flowers, the USOC will be hosting The Jimi Flowers Classic Swim Meet on January 16-17, 2016. This meet will be an exciting world class competition held at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs featuring several of the USA’s top Paralympic swimmers.

For those who never had a chance to meet Jimi, he was an extraordinary husband, father, USOC staff member and swim coach who died on July 10, 2009 following a climbing accident near Aspen.   I encourage you to take a moment and watch this video about Jimi. We currently are looking for volunteers to help with timing (pushing a button on a stopwatch) during the swim meet. No prior experience necessary! We may also need volunteers for other miscellaneous jobs throughout the competition. There are three swimming sessions and we will need 22-24 volunteers for each one. If you are interested in volunteering or know of someone that would be, please send an email to patty.sturm@usoc.org with the session(s) that will work for you. 

Session 1:  Saturday, January 16;  8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Session 2:  Saturday, January 16;  4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.

Session 3:  Sunday, January 17;  8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

Positions are first come, first serve.

  

All of the proceeds from this event go to the Sam and Lauren Flowers college fund. Thank you so much for your interest in carrying out our friend’s legacy!
