A Note From Coach Bob Bell
Hi
Cougars and friends,
Last
year was my 40th year coaching at Coronado H.S. My wife, Mary, and Debbie Glynn
surprised me by nominating me for the “Best of the Springs 2015” with the
Gazette. A few days before the deadline Mary and Debbie sent out emails to
encourage former swimmers and families to vote. I ended up silver in Coach,
High School category. I was amazed to be second. (http://www.thebestofthesprings.com/section/sports-recreation/)
So, because of last year results my name is on the 2016 ballot. Unlike
last year, you do not need to type in my name.
Go
to Gazette.com and click on the Best
of Springs link.
Then,
register to vote. (You MUST register your email)
After
you register, you sign in.
After
you sign in, click on "Sports & Rec" on the top ribbon
Find
"Coach, High School" tab
Click
on “Coach, Bob Bell”. Fill in the comments if you wish.
Click
on "Vote" button on the bottom of the box
I am
still coaching and I’m planning on doing this for another 40 years (maybe
not). In addition to coaching the boys I have been the assistant coach for
the girls team the past 6 years and still enjoy the challenges.
Thanks
for your vote,
Bob

Team Pics
Coach,
We have had to make some
changes with our online picture ordering website due to the fact that our old
one shut down with very short notice. Our new site though is up and running.
You can find it at our website aprephoto.com or directly at https://vando.imagequix.com/Q9HTS99.
The events are sorted by the date they were taken. You can search for your
specific event in the search tool bar at the top of the page. The password is
Colorado for the events. If you could forward this to all of your kids and
their parents that would be great. Thank you for your understanding and
patience with this new system and if you have any questions regarding the new
site please do not hesitate to contact us.

Volunteer Opportunity at The Olympic Training Center
Hello Everyone!
In memory of Jimi Flowers,
the USOC will be hosting The Jimi Flowers Classic
Swim Meet on January 16-17, 2016. This
meet will be an exciting world class competition held at the Olympic Training
Center in Colorado Springs featuring several of the USA’s top Paralympic
swimmers.
For those who never had a chance to meet Jimi, he was an
extraordinary husband, father, USOC staff member and swim coach who died on
July 10, 2009 following a climbing accident near Aspen. I encourage
you to take a moment and watch this video about Jimi. It captures who Jimi was
and how he touched all of our lives. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuBjK0CJMb4.
He was a coach, character and friend to all!
We currently are looking for volunteers to help with timing
(pushing a button on a stopwatch) during the swim meet. No prior experience
necessary! We may also need volunteers for other miscellaneous jobs
throughout the competition. There are three swimming sessions and we will need 22-24
volunteers for each one. If you are interested in volunteering or know of
someone that would be, please send an email to patty.sturm@usoc.org with the
session(s) that will work for you.
Session 1: Saturday,
January 16; 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Session 2: Saturday,
January 16; 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
Session 3: Sunday, January
17; 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.
Positions are first come, first serve.
All of the proceeds from this event go to the Sam and
Lauren Flowers college fund. Thank you so much for your interest in
carrying out our friend’s legacy!
