Suit, Shirt & Hoodie Orders

Please have these forms with payment in to coaches ASAP. The girls have all tried on suits so they know their size as well as if they want thin or thick strapped so talk to them (if they don't remember, I have all that info). Please print out the below and bring to the Parent Meeting tonight with payment. If you cannot make it, please send to practice with your daughter ASAP. Contact me with any questions. *I will have forms at the parent mtg already printed out tonight

 

Pool Maintenance

Waiting to hear back from our AD on the status of the pool. I will confirm either of the below by 2pm today:

3:30-5:15 swim/ 5:30-6ish nutrition talk
OR
4:30-5:30 dryland/ 5:30- 6ish nutrition talk

Unfortunately we will need to be flexible the next two weeks due to various maintenance work around the school. I will post updates to Facebook, here as well as send the girls a Groupme Text.

November Schedule (a full schedule will be available at Parents' Mtg)

What is Swim A Long?

When: Friday, Nov. 10th at 7pm until Saturday, Nov. 11th at 7am

Where: CHS- pool, cafeteria & gym

Why: Fundraiser and Team Building; please start asking for donations based on what you feel you can swim in one hour of time

How: Swimmers and divers stay at the school 12 hours to swim, play games, eat pizza, make crafts, watch movies; sleep(if you have to); each athlete will be expected to swim for an hour straight: there will be at least 2 athletes swimming at all times (including coach); the team will collectively swim roughly a total of 100,000 yards which is the equivalent of 62.5 miles

Who: all swimmers and divers planning on competing during the 2017-2018 season

What: Please bring $12 cash (pizza and team craft) as well as the following:

• Freshman (+ Mia)- snacks
• Sophomores-drinks
• Seniors- bfast

Pool is back up therefore we WILL have an Open Swim Thursday, Sept.14th, 5-6pm. Also, start thinking about team captains as you will be asked to vote at the end of the month.

Calling All Divers...

Peak Diving is excited to announce a new class called High School. This class is intended for athletes who want to dive High School, from beginner to experienced. Focus will be on getting a HS list, maintaining/improving skills during the off-season, and providing extra coaching during season. High School will only do 1-meter.

August Open Swims

We will have 3 Open Swims in August... the 17th, 24th, 31st... Thursday evenings 5-6pm. Great opportunity to work on your stroke and get some one on one attention. More to come in September and October so stay tuned to the Facebook page as well as here.

Volunteer Opportunity at Para Swim Trials at AFA

July 21-23 is the 2017 U.S. Paralympics Swimming World Championships Trials which is being held at the Air Force Academy in the Aquatics Center.  There will be 2 sessions each day:

July 21                Prelims  9:00am-11:00am

                             Finals  5:00pm-7:00pm

July 22                 Prelims  9:00am-11:00am

                             Finals  5:00pm-7:00pm

July 23                 Prelims  9:00am-11:00am

                             Finals  5:00pm-7:00pm

Volunteer Opportunity

Hello Everyone!

In memory of our friend and former colleague, Jimi Flowers, the USOC will be hosting The Jimi Flowers Classic Swim Meet on June 3-4, 2017. This meet will be an exciting world class competition held at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs featuring several of the USA’s top Paralympic swimmers.

For those who never had a chance to meet Jimi, he was an extraordinary husband, father, USOC staff member and swim coach who died on July 10, 2009 following a climbing accident near Aspen.   I encourage you to take a moment and watch this video about Jimi. We currently are looking for volunteers to help with timing (pushing a button on a stopwatch) during the swim meet. No prior experience necessary! We may also need volunteers for other miscellaneous jobs throughout the competition. There are three swimming sessions and we will need 22-24 volunteers for each one. If you are interested in volunteering or know of someone that would be, please email me at patty.sturm@usoc.org with the session(s) that will work for you.

A few notes:

- there is still a lot of construction, there will be tape/cones/signage to guide the way

- please enter the northeast upstairs entrance (closest), all athletes/coaches/spectators will enter the same doors

- please park in the north side of the parking lot, your walk will be closer walking on the north side of the Arena
-please make sure you have your drivers license, proof of registration and proof of insurance

Diving notes

- boards will open earlier at 9:30am

- diving competition will still start at 11:00am

The Season is Winding Down...

Please note a few changes from the beginning of the season:
*We will be swimming at a timed finals (one day) invitational at the AFA on Saturday, Jan. 21st. If you cannot swim, please let me know ASAP. This will be one last opportunity for fast swims before league and state. Exact warm up times to come...
**The JV Meet is Friday, Jan. 27th and NOT Saturday, Jan. 28th. This is the end of the season for those swimming in this meet.
***Swim Banquet is still scheduled for Wednesday, Feb. 15th. I need parents to organize this so please let me know if you are willing to help out.
